Wroclaw Marathon Hits Town This Sunday
Szewska street is quickly becoming one of the most diverse spots on Wrocław's culinary map. Besides swanky wine bars OK and Corso, there's the sweet toothed Muffinaria, and the terrific pizzeria Piec Na Szewskiej. The latest addition to this eclectic street's line up is Rockburger, one of many burger bars to open up in Wrocław recently. With so much competition in this area though, does this new venue stand out from the crowd?
At Rockburger you can tuck into your meal amongst a plethora of rock imagery, with the likes of Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and Bob Dylan all idolised on the walls. Its cool and cosy interior makes it a sociable space and an ideal spot for a chat with your friends. The bar itself is rather small, with the decor full of rock connotations – the lamps shine brightly through recycled music cassettes, while a replica mural of the evil teacher from Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall adds to the atmosphere. On top of all that, there's a neat makeshift light-shade conjured up from glass bottles and an old wooden crate .
In keeping with the theme, every burger is proudly named after a rock song, such as Queen's We Will Rock You. We opted for the Rock burger (19zl), which contains 250g beef, cheddar cheese, onions, pickles, chutney, and a handful of rocket leaves. The meat was the real deal and fared well with many of the trendy new burger bars that have opened of late. To complement the burgers, we of course ordered some fries, which were made in-house, nicely crisp, and not too heavily salted. Rockburger offers a wide range of burgers with different fillings – there's beef, chicken, salmon, and even vegetarian. In the morning, you can also choose from a variety of sandwiches, together with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
To sum up, while there is no shortage of burger places opening their doors here in Wroclaw, Rockburger is doing its level best to stand out from the crowd. With its quirky decor, reasonable prices, juicy meat, fluffy sesame buns, and a wide variety of options, Rockburger is doing a better job than most. Those who share a love for burgers and classic rock certainly need not hesitate to swing by!
