YouTube videos showing scenes of panic and overexcitement at the sale of cheap carp in various Polish Lidl branches have gone viral in recent days.
The videos, which show mainly elderly customers scrapping it out to buy carp for just under 1zl per 100g, have been recieved with either laughter or shock by viewers.
The video embedded above has hit well over 2 million views after just 4 days and has even sparked a spoof film trailer including scenes from zombie movie World War Z, starring Brad Pitt:
Not everybody thinks the scenes are something to make light of however – political news website wpolityce.pl said the videos were "a stark picture of Polish poverty".
