Wrocław Acts As Backdrop For Another Film Set In Berlin

Wrocław has once again been used as backdrop to shoot scenes for a historical film set in Berlin. Filming for ‘Stasikomedie’ started on Friday and will conclude this Thursday.

On Friday a film production team from Potsdam turned ul. Więckowski in Przedmieście Oławskie into Berlin’s Stargarder Strasse. Old German street signs were hung on top of the present-day Polish ones, while fictional German store-fronts were temporarily attached to the tenement buildings.

In the coming days the film crew, composed of 60 Germans and 40 Poles, will record scenes at numerous streets in the Przedmieście Oławskie and Nadodrze districts.

No official release date for the film is known, however it is expected to hit German cinemas at some point next year.

The recording the of film comes just days after Wrocław’s Main Station was used for the filming of another historical movie. Most famously, Nadodrze also acted as the backdrop for some Berlin streets in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Bridge of Spies’.
