Please submit your entry by 11.59pm on Thursday the 5th of September.

Monika Borzym


On the 8th of September, charismatic jazz singer Monika Borzym will perform an intimate set composed of beautiful pre-WW2 songs by eminent composers and poets including Julian Tuwim, Henryk Wars and Marian Hemar. Magnificent pianist Krzysztof Dys will join her on stage.

Vertigo Saturday Night Presents: Pet Cafe


The Pet Cafe band are an outfit whose sound is shaped by its fascinating mix of six radically different musical personalities. First, there’s the magical, electrifying vocals of Kamila Kłos. Then there’s the fiery guitar improvisations of Tomek Kaczmarczyk. On top of that the band also boasts Paweł Balon on saxophone, Piotr Gawron on keyboards, bassist Sylwek Olszewski and drummer
Karol Zathey.

The band’s setlist will feature funk & soul classics from Stevie Wonder through to Jamiroquai and Simply Red, plus original songs by Pet Cafe and Tomek Kaczmarczyk’s band Slow.

Vertigo Premiere: Natalia Szczypuła


Natalia Szczypuła is a singer well known in Wrocław for her versatility; she is equally at home singing soul, jazz or funk songs. Earlier this year Natalia started work on a solo album that includes tracks combining these three musical genres together with a slice of pop. Her upcoming performance at Vertigo will see her perform a number of songs from that record. 

The singer originally honed her skills at Wrocław Jazz School and the London Centre of Contemporary Music/ Since then she gone on to perform at the National Forum of Music and numerous intimate venues across London. Her music has also featured in a couple of major Polish movies.

The Rolling Stones by Jacek Baran & The Blues Connection


Rolling Stones fans can enjoy a classic set of Stones hits performed by Jacek Baran and his Blues Connection band. Baran is of course known as a ‘living legend’ of Wrocław’s rock ‘n’ roll scene – there’s literally nobody else in the area who can perform these songs like him.

Our last featured gig of the month comes from eclectic London jazz collective Cykada, who released their debut album this spring. Mixing jazz, Turkish, Flamenco and West African influences, Cykada recorded the five compositions at London’s Total Refreshment Centre back in December 2017.

The band includes bassist Jamie Benzies, keyboardist Tilé Gichigi-Lipere, drummer Tim Doyle, trumpeter Axel Kaner-Lidstrom, saxophonist James Mollison and guitarist Javi Pérez.
