Ultravox Frontman To Perform At Bolesławiec Pottery Festival

This Friday Ultravox frontman Midge Ure will perform a free concert as part of Bołesławiec’s pottery festival.

Every year the Lower Silesian town organise a large festival to celebrate their pottery heritage. In recent years the festival has grown in size and scope and now also includes live music performances.

The program of the 5-day pottery festival also includes exhibitions, a flea market and pottery workshops. It gets underway today and will run until Sunday.

The main draw at the festival is a live performance from Midge Ure, who is of course famous for his time in the band Ultravox. His setlist will include his solo work as well as a number of 80’s hits from Ultravox’s repetoire, including songs like “Dancing With Tears In My Eyes” and “Vienna”.

Unfortunately, Midge Ure is not expected to be on stage until 22.00, so it won’t be possible to see his whole concert before catching the last train to Wrocław at 22.44.

Ceramics and pottery are of course a key part of Bolesławiec’s identity. The town itself is frequently referred to as Miasto Ceramiki (Town of ceramics).

Indeed, it is virtually unthinkable to mention the place without commenting on the ceramics that have been produced there for over a thousand years. Naturally, Bolesławiec is proud of this and the festival is an ideal way for the town to celebrate its ceramics heritage.
