Our first gig of the month comes from the VW Project, a band whose members herald from various parts of the world.

The band is let by Ukrainian vocalist Valentina Vatutina, whose vocal style is influenced by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. The band’s guitarist is American George Dyer, who of course fronts blues outfit the George Dyer Band. English saxophonist Craid Hume adds to the international mix, as does Polish guitarist Marcin Spera. Two other Poles also play their part in the band – keyboardist Andrzej Waśniewski and drummer Bartłomiej Libera.

Together, the five piece band constitute a lively blues band that is tailor made for a venue like Vertigo.
