Jazz Nad Odra Festival Hits Wrocław This Friday

The Jazz nad Odrą Festival, one of the oldest and most prestigious jazz festivals in Poland, holds its 55th edition this week.

First organized in 1964, the event has become a core part of Poland’s music scene for over half a century. Every spring the festival presents a fine line up of interesting jazz acts from all around the world, whose styles incorporate almost every jazz sub-genre.

This year’s festival, backed by sponsorship from a major bank, spans four days between April 26th-April 30th. As in previous editions, the majority of the concerts will take place at the Impart centre on Mazowiecka Street.

For the fifth time Leszek Możdżer has taken on the task of curating the festival, which typically features world-famous jazz musicians and special projects.

The line-up of Jazz nad Odra 2019 includes Jazzmeia Horn, Keyon Harrold, Kandace Springs, Tia Fuller, Sławek Jaskułke with “Komeda Recomposed”, plus  Kuba Więcek and Adam Bałdych.

The festival will once again feature an outdoor zone at plac Społeczny, which is set to host more concerts than ever before. On top of that, there will be meetings with legendary saxophonist Przemek Dyakowski, a jazz poster exhibition and the first edition of the Marek Karewicz photography competition.

You can purchase your tickets via www.jazznadodra.pl, www.strefakultury.pl, www.eventim.pl, at the Impart ticket office (Mazowiecka 17) from 2:00 p.m to 6:00 pm, the Barbara ticket office (Świdnicka 8b) from 12:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m, as well as at Empik and Media Markt stores.
