Want to travel via train in Poland and Lower Silesia for less? Check out our guide to all the various offers and promotions available.
The offers vary depending on what trains you use, as you will see in the promotions listed below:
First on our list is Koleje Dolnośląskie, the train operator for the Lower Silesia region.
35zl weekend offer
Koleje Dolnośląskie operate most of the internal rail routes in our region and they offer a handy weekend ticket that allows unlimited travel between Friday at 6pm to Monday morning at 6am. On long weekends the ticket’s validity also extends further. Named Podróżuj z KD, you can buy this promotional ticket (and all of the others in this article) at the relevant counter at the train station. You can also use the Koleo app (described later) to buy your ticket by choosing the ‘bilet okresowy’ option at the bottom of the screen.
Another promotion run by Koleje Dolnośląskie is called Razem z KD. This deal gives the 2nd, 3rd and 4th passengers on a ticket a 30% discount on the price of the journey. If you use the Koleo app, the promotion is automatically applied when you add additional passengers in the selection menu.
PolRegio provide trains that travel both within and across Poland’s regions. They are typically cheaper than the intercity services.
PolRegio run the same weekend offer as Koleje Dolnośląskie for 39zł. This is called a Bilet Turystyczny and it costs 39zl.
‘Together in Poland’ weekend offer
PolRegio offer a weekend ticket that allows journeys on Koleje Dolnośląskie, PolRegio and PKP Intercity services. Tickets on the Pendolino can also be purchased for 10zł extra. The ticket costs 109zł and is valid from Friday at 7pm until Monday at 6am.
3 day offer
PolRegio’s 3 day ticket, called REGIOkarnet, allows you to travel on PolRegio trains an unlimited amount of times over 3 calendar days. The ticket is a personal one, so you’ll need to carry ID and write your PESEL or passport number on the ticket (there is a designated place for it).
PKP Intercity operate most of the long distance routes in Poland, including the Pendolino services between Wrocław and Warsaw.
Cheaper advance sale tickets
If you want to get the cheapest prices for the Pendolino service to Warsaw, buy 30 days in advance of your journey to pick up the first promotional seats. You can do this online on the PKP Intercity website.
Cheaper tickets are also available on other routes if you make your purchase a few weeks before your trip.
Every Thursday PKP Intercity put out a bunch of tickets at promotional prices for different routes. You can try your luck and see if your intended destination comes up here. Just click on Wrocław and see what’s available via the dropdown menu.
81zl weekend offer
PKP’s weekend deal is almost identical to the two above, the exception being the higher price (81zl) and the fact it is valid from 7pm on Friday. For full information on the offer in English, click here.
Families travelling in a group of 2-5 people can get 30% off all their tickets provided one child under the age of 16 is travelling with them. For full information on the offer in English, click here.
If you happen to be traveling in a group of 11 people or more, you can grab yourself a discount provided you take the time to fill in an application. You can find more information in English on this deal here.
