Wrocław President Appoints Tolerance Advisor

Wrocław’s President has appointed an advisor to help the city to encourage tolerance and combat xenophobia.
The job has gone to Barłomiej Ciążyński, who is the vice-chairman of the city council, a lawyer and a councilor representing the ‘Alliance for Wroclaw’ party.
Tolerance, openness, diversity, equality and social justice are key words for me – words that must be followed by specific actions. That is why I am introducing an advisor on tolerance and counteracting xenophobia. The strength of our city lies in both its openness and diversity. I believe that Bartłomiej will help us fight harder for this goal, which was also the will of Paweł Adamowicz.

Barłomiej will be responsible for coordinating measures to help the city fight against “prejudices, discrimination, hate speech and radical nationalist behavior”.
Other tasks include cooperating with non-governmental organizations, the city council, the police and prosecutors so as to aid the battle against xenophobia. The advisor will also seek to remedy the symptoms of discrimination by conducting information campaigns and proposing changes to law.
