Man Taken To Drunk Tank Found With 30,000zł In His Pocket

Last week staff at Wrocław’s drunk tank were surprised to see one of their ‘guests’ in possession of around 30,000zł cash.

According to tuwroclaw.com, police officers found a man sleeping on Wednesday evening in the Solny passage area. The police quickly discovered the man was so drunk he couldn’t move without being carried.

The man was then taken to the city’s alcohol rehabilitation centre, informally known as the ‘drunk tank’.

On arrival, those staying at the drunk tank must deposit all the items in their possession. In this case it turns out the man just happened to have around 30,000zł in banknotes.

The money should already have been returned to the man (presuming that he has sobered up). His night of binging has nonetheless cost him several hundred złoty. On top of the cash he spent on the booze, he also would have had to pay over 300zł for the ‘pleasure’ of staying the night at the rehabilitation centre.

It is not known how the man came to be casually carrying around such a large amount of money in a heavily drunken state. Perhaps he profited from a business deal or hit the jackpot after spending the day gambling. The truth will however remain a mystery.
