Demolition Of Grabiszyńska Footbridge Starts This Tuesday

The red footbridge that crosses Grabiszyńska street will be demolished over a series of November nights starting from tomorrow evening

An extra pedestrian crossing and tram stop have been constructed to compensate for the loss of the bridge, which has linked either side of Kolejowa street for years.

Tomorrow evening the city will build temporary supports to safely hold the middle of the bridge once it is cut off from both staircases. The middle section will then be dismantled a day later. For technical reasons, the side of the road leading to the city center will be cut off from traffic between 10pm and 5am while this work is carried out.

The next overnight stages of demolition are planned for November 8th and 9th, 12th and 13th and finally, the 14th and 15th.

The resulting tidy-up, which includes some improvements to cycle lanes, should be finished by the third week of November.
