Tenth Equality March To Make Its Way Through Wrocław On Saturday

This Saturday at 3pm the annual Equality March will pass through Wrocław for the tenth time.

This year participants will gather under the slogan “Together in the Name of Love”. The general message remains unchanged however.

The organisers will once again call for action against hate speech and racially-motivated violence, as well as manifestations of homophobia, xenophobia and racism in public spaces. They will also demonstrate in favour of allowing marriages and civil partnerships to be made available to everyone regardless of gender. On top of that, the organisers wish to see the introduction of anti-discrimination and sex education in all public schools. Last but not least, participants at the march will make it clear that they want a city that welcomes refugees.

Saturday’s demonstration will start and finish at pl. Wolności. The route is as follows:

pl. Wolności – ul. Modrzejewskiej – ul. Świdnicką – ul. Kościuszki – ul. Kołłątaja – ul. Skargi – ul. Oławska – ul. Kazimierza Wielkiego – ul. Gepperta – pl. Solny – Rynek – ul. Ruska ul. Kazimiera Wielkiego – ul. Zamkowa – pl. Wolności.

Last year around 1,000 people took part in the equality march, including members of the ‘Culture Of Equality’ association, staff and regulars at gay-friendly venue Hah Wrocław, members of the black protest movement, as well as employees of Credit Suisse.
