Wrocław To Host Polish Baseball Finals Next Weekend

Next weekend Wrocław Barons’ baseball field in Zakrzów will host the semi-final and final of the Polish Baseball Cup.

Wrocław Barons will of course be one of the 4 teams taking part in the competition. They are due to take on Dęby Osielsko in the first semi-final on Saturday, with Centaury Warszawa and Silesia Rybnik also set to do battle later in the afternoon. The final of the competition is scheduled for Sunday at 4.30pm.

Away from the sporting spectacle itself there will be a variety of other attractions. The Gang Band and Rafał Antone Antonowski are both set to perform live, while people of all ages can also try pitching into a special machine that measures the speed of their throw.

You can see a full breakdown of the weekend’s events here.

Following 15 years of attempts to attract funding for a new ball park, the Wrocław Barons Baseball Club were able to make their dreams become a reality when they received 12,000 votes for the project in an edition of Wrocław’s civil budget programme.

The complex is equipped with 2 batting cages and 2 bullpens on each side, as well as an electronical score board.

The completion of the project was seen as a massive moment for baseball in Wrocław and the surrounding area, as the city had never had the facilities to compete prior to the construction of the new field.

The address of the Wrocław’s Barons baseball field is ul.Niepodległości 6 – you can easily get there by taking bus number 128 and getting off at the last stop (Zakrzów).
