The ATP tennis tour looks set to return to Wroclaw in 2019 according to tuwroclaw.com.
Earlier this year the Wrocław Open had to be cancelled due to a lack of sponsorship cash. The annual competition had been organised as an indoor tournament at Hala Orbita in February and March, with entry free of charge for spectators.
Now it appears that the tournament will return, but in a different format. Instead of being a winter event held indoors, the Wrocław Open will likely take place on the clay courts at the Olympic Stadium complex during the summer.
The details regarding the 2019 Wrocław Open have not been rubber stamped yet, but an announcement is expected in the fext few weeks.
As an ATP Challenger event, the top ranked players in the world are forbidden from entering the Wrocław Open. However in 2016 Polish number one and Wimbledon semi-finalist Jerzy Janowicz took part, as did grand slam double doubles champion Łukasz Kubot.
