A former PiS councillor who drove home drunk was arrested after inadvertently beaching his car on the tram tracks in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident is said to have happened at around 1am on Sunday on Kwidzynska street. A witness who saw the car swerve onto the tram tracks promptly called the police, who then gave the driver (Jacek A) a breathalyzer test.
According to reports, It was abundantly clear the former PiS member was well over the limit. It is alleged that he fell asleep at the wheel and was so drunk he couldn’t exit the vehicle without police assistance.
Jacek A served as a representative of PiS’ Lower Silesia Branch for some 7 years, resigning from party as recently as three weeks ago. After leaving PiS Jacek then almost immediately took on the role as CEO of public copper-mining firm KGHM.
However following the shame of being arrested for drink-driving, Jacek had no option but to resign just 3 weeks into his contract – losing benefits such as a 200,000zł company car in the process.
Since the incident occurred, Wrocław PiS leader Mirosława Stachowiak-Różecka has sought to reiterate that Jacek A is no longer a member of her party. She has also condemned her former colleague’s behaviour.
Meanwhile Jacek A, who admitted to a Fakt journalist on Sunday afternoon that he had done wrong, now faces being jailed for as long as two years.
