A few dozen French football fans hit the streets of Wrocław's old town yesterday to celebrate their national team becoming World Champions.
The street celebrations in Wrocław mirrored those that took place across France (although it's fair to say they were not quite as exuberant over here).
Many of the French fans celebrating yesterday did so on pl.Solny having gathered to watch the game at Felicita pub.
The fans then made their way to the Rynek, where they recreated the famous Icelandic 'thunderclap'.
Wrocław Uncut reader Danny McCafferty, who was present as the celebrations unfolded yesterday, said that many locals also congratulated the French on winning the cup:
Everyone was singing and dancing their way to the Rynek; the locals and tourists were also applauding and shaking everyone's hands.
The Wrocław branch of Alliance Française were understandably delighted too, with the post below just one of many they made about their team's achievement.
Of course not everyone in Wrocław was rooting for France yesterday – there were also some heartbroken Croatian fans in town. Even so, there can be no doubt that every Croatian will be proud of their team's performance at Russia 2018. Last night in Zagreb fans were still in a celebratory mood, and it's likely Croatians living over here felt just the same.
