It will soon be completely legal to drink alcohol on Wyspa Słodowa.
Last week Wrocław's councillors voted in favour of a bill that legalises drinking in public in 6 designated places. The decision comes after a local survey found that almost 62% think there should be designated areas where drinking in public is legal.
Five of the those 6 places are at specific areas in the following parks and forests: Osobowicki Forest, Parku Wschodni, Rędziński Forest, Park Tysiąclecia and Sołtysowicki Forest. You can see where those areas are in the pictures attached to this article.
In addition to that, all of Wyspa Słodowa will be exempt from the law that forbids drinking alcohol in public.
16 councillors voted in favour of the bill, 14 voted against and 5 abstained. Tuwroclaw.com reports that the new law will come into affect 14 days after it is registered in Official Journal of the Lower Silesian Voivodship.
Wrocław's councillors have also agreed to restrict the sale of alcohol in shops located in Wrocław's Old Town district. As of September, it will not be possible to buy alcohol from city centre shops between 10pm and 6am.
