Wrocław's riverside areas have been widely littered with trash ever since the warm weather kicked in last week.
Temperatures in Wrocław surpassed 20°C for the first time in over 6 months on Tuesday, which understandably lured a lot of people down to the river for a few drinks.
Unfortunately, many of those who gathered did not bother to deal with their litter. Some chose to leave their drinks next to overflowing bins, while some others just left their trash lying on the grass.
The scale of the problem is best illustrated by the video below, which shows the state of Wyspa Słodowa on Wednesday morning. The the island looks like a post-music festival wasteland with trash all over the place.
While drinking alcohol in areas such as Wyspa Słodowa and Dunikowskiego Boulevard is technically illegal, many Wroclawians happily do so in the comfort that they will get away with it if the numbers of people drinking are high enough.
According to a report from tuwroclaw.com, one man who collects beer cans and sells them for scrap has been earning up to 200zł a day thanks to the huge amount of discarded trash.
Not all the trash is picked up by such people however. This is particularly true of bottles, which are not as easy to get a deposit from as they used to.
