Wrocław’s Foreigners Make Record Complaints About Employers

Official complaints from Wrocław's foreigners regarding dishonest employers has reached record levels according to Gazeta Wrocławska

In 2016, non-Polish citizens filed 72 complaints to Wrocław's District Labour Inspectorate. This year the number of complaints has already shot up to 195. The vast majority of these complaints have reportedly come from Ukrainian citizens.

The main cause for complaint is said to be payment, whereby a foreign employee has either been paid unfairly or not received the pay they were due.

Gazeta Wrocławska state that inspectors from Wrocław carried out 465 inspections in 2016 concerning the legality of a foreigner's employment. Of those inspections, 40 resulted in legal action being taken against employers. 22 fines were also handed out to companies who fell foul of employment law.

When it comes to 2017, by the end of October there had been 670 inspections, 54 cases reaching the courts and 6 fines.
