Hundreds Pay Tribute To Late Basketball Player Adam Wójcik

Last night hundreds gathered outside Hala Kosynierka to pay their respects to legendary Sląsk Wrocław basketball player Adam Wójcik, who died on Saturday at the young age of 47 after a battle with leukemia.

Adam is regarded as one of Poland's greatest ever basketball players – he is currently the Polish basketball league's all-time highest scorer with 10,087 points.

During his illustrious career Adam won 8 Polish championships and 2 Polish cups, as well as one Belgian championship. Many of those trophies were won during his three spells at Sląsk Wrocław.

Adam's first years at Sląsk Wrocław, during which the club performed in European competition to massive crowds at Hala Stulecia and won several championships, will never be forgotten by Wrocław's basketball fans.
