Capital Of Rock Cancelled!

Wrocław music fans and Stadion Wrocław received a huge blow earlier today when it was announced that the Capital of Rock event had been cancelled.

English band the Prodigy, well known as being one of the pioneers of the big beat genre during the nineties and noughties, were set to headline the event. Australian hard rock band Wolfmother and English power rock trio RavenEye were also signed up to provide support for the gig.

The sad news was announced just over an hour ago via social media and the official Capital of Rock website.

The RockloudLive promoter regret to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances regarding organisation on their side, they have been forced to cancel the Capital of Rock festival scheduled for 19 August 2017 in Wroclaw.

We are very sorry for the fans and all those who had planned to participate in the event.

We would like to thank the band The Prodigy, and all the other artists, as well as the co-organizer of the festival, Wrocław 2016, and all the sponsors and media partners of the festival. At the same time we would like to once again apologise for the situation.

Fans who bought tickets through the website are requested to return their ticket and receipt together with the completed return form available via the following link: -reklamacji-en.pdf

If you bought a ticket for the event in a shop such as Empik, you can get your ticket cash refunded from Monday.

It is difficult to point the finger as to why the promoter has pulled the plug on the event, as the Prodigy's band members are all in good health and their European Tour appears to going without a hitch. The Prodigy themselves made it clear on their website that the gig had been cancelled by the promoter and not themselves.

It is possible that ticket sales have simply failed to reach the promoter's expectations. Although the Prodigy are a highly regarded and a well known act, attracting a similar crowd to the one that gathered for Rammstein last year was always going to be a tall order. There had been rumours circulating that Metallica would perform at Capital of Rock, and when the Prodigy were announced as headliners many Wrocławians felt slightly underwhelmed by the choice.
