New Daliowa Island Structure Nearing Completion

Oscar Zięty's avante-garde structure will be officially unveiled on Daliowa Island later next month.

The contemporary design incorporates new durable and lightweight materials that also have reflective properties, which are to be harnessed in order to mirror the beauty of the surrounding area onto the structure itself.

At this moment in time the structure is wrapped in black protective plastic, which will be removed in due course. Before the official opening of the attraction on June 24th, the structure's components will be carved, cleaned and polished.

The whole project has cost a whopping 1.3 million zloty, a fee that will have many Wroclawians scratching their heads given the amount of debt the city is saddled with at the present moment.

Oscar Zięty has nonetheless argued his case and shown his belief that the investment will be worthwhile, citing the benefits that modern structures such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao have brought to local areas. Zięty argues that such grand modern architecture can draw more tourists and even push up property prices, bringing more money and wealth to the city.
