Nanan, a small café specialising in luxury sweets and desserts, has been attracting a fair amount of attention since it opened last December.
Nanan's produce is certainly worth shouting about, however its the cafe's interior that charms at first. Monochromatic pink tones and streamlined shapes help to create a calm and harmonious atmosphere, which goes hand in hand with the elegant desserts on display. There is no artwork on the walls at Nanan, neither are there large communal tables, instead the focus appears to be on building a warm and welcoming space that is both pretty and minimalist.
On our first visit we simply popped in for an eclair and tea. However it is pretty hard to restrict yourself to just one item at Nanan seeing as all of them are so wonderfully presented and uniquely designed. Once you order one dessert, you can't help but let temptation lure you into ordering one more eclair or macaroon.
When it comes to refreshments, Nanan offer a variety of coffees, teas (Kusmi tea), fresh juices, water and wines. Prices for the sweets range between 8-15zl, while a coffee will set you back between 6-12zl, depending on the type and size.
Admittedly, the prices may appear a bit steep given Nanan's sweets are rather on the petit side. On the other hand, there is no doubting the quality of these delicious desserts – ultimately, you get what you pay for. Nanan also do take-away, allowing you to take a few treats home for yourself or someone else worth spoiling.
Is Nanan worth going to then? In my eyes, yes – principally for two important reasons. First and foremost, the quality of the chocolates, sweets and eclairs are first class. Secondly, Nanan's cozy and pink interior, complete with the scent of flowers, is a confident example of a contemporary take on a classic design. This is a space where you can easily feel at ease, an ideal setting perfect for sitting back and enjoying a sweet treat.
All those plus points makes it rather easy to fall in love with Nanan, especially if you have a sweet-tooth. Try this place out once and you could find yourself yearning for more.
