Nationalist group Młodzież Wszechpolska (Polish Youth) have created 'political death' certificates for the presidents of major Polish cities who have shown their willingness to accept refugees. Wrocław's President, Rafał Dutkiewicz, was one of the 11 targeted by Młodzież Wszechpolska. The Presidents of Gdansk, Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Krakow, Lublin, Lodz, Poznan, Rzeszow, Szczecin and Warsaw were also given the death certificate treatment. The author of the series of images has put "liberalism, multiculturalism and stupidity" into the 'cause of death' field on each certificate. The nationalist group claim the posts are symbolic and have been published due to the presidents' open stance towards refugees representing "political death". On Saturday Młodzież Wszechpolska hope to organise 'anti-Islamification' protests in each of the aforementioned cities; one such protest has already been organised in Warsaw. In their own words, the protest is necessary as "uncontrolled immigration is not just a temporary humanitarian or political crisis but a fully planned action aimed at changing the structure of the ethnic, cultural and religious character of our continent amongst other things." Recent polls show that the resettling of refugees from the Middle-East in Poland is not a popular option. Some polls put support for Syrian refugees being allowed to stay in Poland at as little as 14%. The current Government do not want to accept the EU refugee quota, while PO, the main opposition party, have also hardened their approach towards the refugee issue in the hope of gaining support. This opinion is not shared by many city presidents in Poland however, as just days ago several mayors signed a declaration showing their support for immigration. Support for hosting refugees also appears to be higher among the residents of cities, albeit not as strong as the city presidents would like.
