Thousands of Cyclists to Gather for Bike Festival

Thousands of cyclists will take to Wrocław's streets on Sunday for the 2015 edition of Wroclaw Cycle Fest.

The festival, which is the biggest non-sporting bike event in the region, aims to promote cycling as a great mode of transport and to integrate bike lovers. An impressive 4, 500 cyclists took part in Wrocław Cycle Fest last year.

The centrepeice of Sunday's festival is the so called 'Great Peleton', which takes place at 12:00pm at. Pl. Nowy Targ. Following tradition, the route will be 8 kilometres long and see cyclists ride through the city centre before finishing up in Nadodrze's Park Stanisława Tołpy. The whole route will be shut off to car traffic during this time.

The Peleton will also have a peculiar twist this year in that it will be joined by a 'Bikensemble Parade', who are to play live music for the whole 8 kilometer journey.

This year’s route is visible on the Google map map below, which shows riders the best route to get to the Nowy Targ for those living in different neighbourhoods throughout the city. The main route is highlighted in red.
