There’s a new kid on the block in the Sky Tower. Meet Dinette Bistro, a comfy joint with a laidback vibe and feel good food with a modern twist.
The restaurant itself is quite small – there are about 7 tables for couples and small groups, and a large round one (illustrated above) for those solo-eaters who are willing to meet, greet, and eat with each other.
The menu is fresh, seasonal and refreshingly risky. The Chefs aren’t afraid to think out of the box and experiment with odd flavor combinations like orange hummus or coffee infused olive oil.
We started the night with the 'Dinettki' – a dip platter featuring the coffee and orange olive oil and the orange hummus, gravalax, sundried tomato paste, goat's cheese, Italian veggies, and assorted Italian meats.
The orange hummus was exceptional, as was the smoked goat's cheese. The orange paired surprisingly well with the hummus, as this creamy chickpea dip mellowed out the bitterness of the orange.
For the mains we ordered the Winter Loin, the Duck and Celery, and the Maple and Bacon Risotto.
The Winter Loin is a must-have dish on a cold, wintery Wroclaw evening when only comfort food will do. It was served alongside cream and sage buckwheat, caramelized carrots and bacon crumble. All the flavors paired nicely with each other.
Though I appreciated the thought behind the Maple and Bacon Risotto, the dish wasn’t quite executed properly. The Risotto was over liquid-y, and the flavors of the maple were a little too subtle.
The Duck and Celery on the other hand was worth coming back for. The duck was cooked to a perfect medium and had nice crispy skin. It was complemented well with a side of roasted beets and celery.
All in all, Dinette has successfully been able to update traditional ingredients with a number of unconventional flavors. So next time you’re in the Sky Tower, make sure you give this joint a try. The food is both innovative and comforting, the ambiance is relaxing, and the prices are fair.
