Bema Cafe

Alternatively minded Cafes are all the rage in Wrocław just now. In fact, so many have propped up over the last few years it's a challenge to find them all. One new venue that's a doddle to locate however, is Bema Cafe, which is unsurprisingly situated a mere stones-throw from Plac Bema itself.

The location is practical for the many people who work in the area, and is also ideal for those seeking a comfy spot after a stroll around Ostrow Tumski or Wyspa Słodowa. The atmosphere is welcoming, the vibe relaxing, and the produce tasty.

The large windows that adorn the entrance help soak in the sun, allowing you to sit in and enjoy the warmth while taking in the view from outside. On sunny days natural light shines through the glass beautifully, illuminating the whole cafe and bringing a comforting aurora to the surroundings. The style is clearly modern, with the industrial concrete ceiling contrasting the elegant cream furniture. There are hints of Berlin influence here: a modern fashionable look, a European-like menu, and trendy German soft drinks (Including the super caffeinated Fritz Cola) on sale.

As far as the hot drinks go, you'll find a decent range of good quality teas and coffees, just as you'd come across in Wrocław's many other independent cafes. If you are the coffee and cake type, Cafe Bema have numerous sweet options to choose from too, all of which are proudly displayed near the cash register.

On our visit we opted for savoury however, choosing tuna salad and a bacon toast (see picture on the right). The tuna salad (14zl) was presented wonderfully and hit the spot, with the hand made bread stick a nice finishing touch. The toast (9zl) was a tad petit, although it has to be said the buffalo mozzarella and Polish bacon were a cut above what you'd get served in most toasterias. If none of these lunch or snack options wet your appetite, Cafe Bema also serve omelet, various filled bagels and soup.

Families will be pleased to know Cafe Bema is child friendly too, while students and teachers alike will appreciate the free wifi connection.

In Cafe Bema, Wrocław has a notable addition to it's burgeoning contemporary cafe scene. If you need any more evidence that our city's habits and tastes are changing, make sure you pay this place a visit.
